In ancient Egypt, the 'Eye of Horus' was considered to be a very powerful magical symbol and talisman for channeling energy or warding off evil spirits. It is the ancient origin of the modern phrase, 'giving somebody the evil eye'. It is associated with the 'All Seeing Eye' of occultism.
